Everybody loves a good ghost photo, don’t they? How would you rate these ones?
Leeds Infirmary Ghost Nurse

Hospital worker, Andrew Milburn took this spooky photo on snapchat, allegedly to prove to his girlfriend that he was at work. However, as we can see, he claims to have captured something more.
This spectral apparition app ears to be wearing the long skirt and head overing of an old-timey nurse or matron, complete with the tail of her pinafore string trailing behind her.
Talking to The Mirror Online, Mr Milburn attests that the photograph was taken in Leeds General Infirmary in June of 2015 and has left staff scratching their heads, afraid to walk the long, echoing corridors alone.
But is this image fact or fake? While Mr Milburn claims the image has not been tampered with, skeptics claim this image could have been hoaxed with one of the many horror themed photo editing apps available at the time.
Let’s look a little closer. The image was apparently captured in the Leeds infirmary’s Clarendon Wing – part of the children’s hospital. Although it seems believable that a possible victorian-era nurse is still preforming her duties in the afterlife, the wing itself didn’t open until 1984. Other hospital buildings do date back to the 1770s, and, then again, if we’re discussing the possibility of ghosts, is it not conceivable that the spirit of a former nurse was so dedicated to her work that she was drawn to a newer area?
On a more personal note, having worked in both hospitals and funeral homes, I’ve had my own experiences in these “high traffic” areas that make me a little more inclined to believe. But people have been hoaxing ghostly images since the dawn of photography, so we must take everything we see with a pinch of salt.

Creep Factor: 💀💀💀 – I find ghost nurses kinda comforting
Believability: 💀💀💀- Easily fake-able, but the trail of the pinafore string gives it an extra skull for detail.
The Boot Hill Ghost

This alleged ghost photo has been doing the rounds since the early days of the internet and is one of its most famous.
Taken in 1996, in the spookily named town of Tombstone, Arizona, the image features the infamous Boot Hill Cemetery and shows a man posed in old western garb, holding a gun.
This part of the image is purely intentional, but to the model’s right, we can see the hat and torso of another man. One who wasn’t supposed to be there.
Back in 1996, photo manipulation wasn’t as accessible or widespread as it is today, but even so, those discussing the Boot Hill Ghost seem to rule it out fairly quickly. In fact, the figure can allegedly be seen on the image negative, however, this -to my knowledge- has not been released.
Although we can’t tell for sure without visiting the cemetery and recreating the photo ourselves, it’s generally considered that the figure is coming out of the ground, rather than standing in a hole or behind a ridge in the landscape.
Still, that doesn’t rule out the possibility of a hoax. As Blake Smith from skeptic.com covered in this article, the photo could conceivably be a half-mannequin set up in the brush, and although his comparison doesn’t match completely, it’s certainly a conceivable theory.
Another thing we can’t ignore is the photographer, Ike Clanton – himself a descendant of an outlaw of the same name – was apparently the proprietor of a “haunted”saloon in Tombstone.
Could this be a wilful hoax to drum up business? If it was, it’s certainly worked, as this almost 30 year old image is still hotly debated in paranormal circles of today.
Creep Factor: 💀💀 – I’ve never really been into cowboys.
Believability: 💀💀- Although it’s not officially debunked, I’ve never really been a believer in this particular image.
The Pink Lady of Greencastle

O’Hare mansion in Greencastle, Indiana, was renowned for its apparent supernatural activity. In the period between its abandonment and its demolition, it was a rumoured to be haunted by a female spirit, and this drew ghost hunters Guy Winters and Terry Lambert to the house with their video cameras at the ready.
While exploring, the two came across a sulphur like smell, followed by the sound of an echoing heart beat (Tell-Tale Heart style), which caused them to flee from the building. During this encounter, they turned back to capture the series of images above.
The infamous photographs caught the attention of paranormal reality shows, which had experts examine them. Upon enhancement, the figure’s skull-like appearance is revealed in detail.
Check out the original video footage, as presented below:
What do you make of these creepy photos? The fact that there’s different, consecutive images along with the enhancement and expert testimony makes me think these are among the best examples of a ghost caught on camera.
Creep Factor: 💀💀 💀 💀 💀 – Super scary.
Believability: 💀💀💀 💀 – About as believable as a ghost photo can be.
