Salutations, dear readers! It’s 2026! I have emerged from the cocoon of Christmas, filled to the brim with cheese and beer – like a Hobbit but much less wholesome – and what better way to bring in the new years than with our annual foray into the predictions of our favourite Balkan mystic, Baba Vanga!
Who was Baba Vanga?
Just as we did in 2024 and 2025, let’s refresh ourselves on exactly who Baba Vanga was:
Baba Vanga was born Vangeliya Pandeva Gushterova on October 3rd 1911 in North Macedonia.
She lived a fairly ordinary life and was considered a bright and intelligent girl who’s favourite pastime was playing a type of mystic doctor, where she healed her friend’s imaginary illnesses with potions.
That all changed when, at the age of twelve, a tornado swept through her village and whisked her away, leaving her in a nearby field. Her eyes were so full of dust and debris that she was rendered blind for the rest of her life.
In her lifetime, Baba Vanga became famous for her healings and mystic abilities, who’s predictions are thought to have foretold events such as the Chernobyl nuclear disaster and the death of Princess Diana.
Before she died, she left behind a catalog of predictions for decades to come.
2026 Predictions
So, what are our beloved Baba’s predict for 2026? Well, they’re broadly similar to 2025.
Alien Contact
Baba Vanga predicted that Earth would make contact with “another civilisation”. Some claimed this would happen during a major sporting event during 2025 (which didn’t happen – as far as we know) but others believe it will come sometime in November 2026 in the shape of a huge spacecraft entering the atmosphere. Only time will tell, but I for one, hope our new alien overlords will save us from her other predictions such as…
Rising Conflict
As of January 2026, there’s no peace between Russia and Ukraine and, although a ceasefire was agreed in October 2025, Gaza is still a place of humanitarian disaster. Add to that America’s recent actions in Venezuela, and global politics remain, shall we say, rather spicy. According to Baba Vanga, this year isn’t going to get much better. With rising escalation the world is on the brink of “the downfall of humanity”. Yikes.
Natural Disasters
Extreme weather, global warming, volcanos and earthquakes. That’s what goodies we have in store for 2026, apparently. Last year brought us heatwaves, flooding, wildfires and a typhoon, and 2026 is said to bring us much of the same.
The Beginning of Inter-Planetary Mining
By 2028, Baba Vanga claimed we’ll be mining energy from Venus,so if this prediction is due to come true, Nasa better start planning.
Medical Advancements
We’re continuing to creep towards the production of Multi-Cancer Early Detection blood tests – potentially detecting cancers before symptoms even start – as well as the possibility of lab-grown organs. Believers say these will fulfil Baba Vanga’s predictions.
There are, of course, other psychics with there own predictions for the year to come . One of particular note comes from Nostradamus, suggesting that “The King of the Isles” will abdicate or otherwise leave the throne in 2026. With 77 year old King Charles still receiving treatment for cancer, perhaps this is another prediction we should keep a close eye on.
